Our Chief Executive
Miranda Carruthers-Watt was appointed as the Chief Executive of Lancashire Police Authority in April 2007. Miranda is responsible for overseeing all Police Authority staff and she works closely with the Chair and all Members to ensure that there is an effective and efficient police service in Lancashire.
She liaises with Members and with the Constabulary and works closely with other Police Authorities and with the Home Office to make sure that Lancashire’s interests are served.
Miranda is supported by her Personal Assistant, Debbie Bryant, and the rest of the team.
Our Community Engagement Team
The communications team is responsible for all outward facing communication with the public. Our aim is to ensure that the people of Lancashire are aware of what the Police Authority is and what it does. It is important that the public are given the opportunity to voice their views on policing and contribute to the decisions that the Authority makes. We are responsible for:
- public consultation and community engagement
- external publications eg local policing summary, budget leaflet
- community events
- coordinating internal and external communications
- giving feedback to the public about the Authority
- making sure that the public views on policing are fed into the Authority’s performance scrutiny and planning processes
- Development of policy in respect of community engagement
We also oversee the Authority volunteer schemes to include the custody and animal welfare visitors.
The team is headed up by Naomi Walker, Communications Manager and includes Ian Dickinson, Administrator and Danielle Norton, Marketing Officer.
Our Governance Team
The governance team is responsible for supporting the Members of the Authority and facilitating the Authority’s business. This includes preparing and servicing the full Authority and its committees and ensuring that the policies and procedures are regularly reviewed.
We work closely with the Association of Police Authorities to make sure that Lancashire views are reflected in national policy development.
We are responsible for overseeing a number of appointment processes, including the appointment of our own members as well as the senior officers within the constabulary.
The governance team is headed up by Christine Durber, Administration Manager, and includes Stephen Pickup and Bev Wood, Administrators, and Lizzie Heath, Administrative Assistant.
Our Office Team
The office team has responsibility for the smooth running of the police authority office including liaising with members and staff ensuring that they have the facilities to function daily including financial management, the provision of stationery, equipment, IT and other resources. The office team also provide support for all the other teams within the organisation on a variety of tasks.
The Office Manager is Sue Hamilton and the team includes Becky Spaulding, Clerical Officer/Receptionist and Jay Nicholas, Secretarial Assistant/WPO.
In addition to the full time posts within the office, the Police Authority also has a part time Treasurer and is supported by a dedicated legal advisor team and media support service.
